Mission Statement

The Mission of the Humane Society of El Paso is dedicated to preventing suffering, neglect, abuse and cruelty to animals, providing information, raising public awareness of animal issues, promoting responsible pet ownership, and kindness towards all living things. To achieve our mission, we pursue the following goals:

  • To provide a compassionate and healthful environment for those in our care
  • To facilitate responsible adoption by placing animals in caring homes
  • To offer education and spay/neuter programs to reduce the suffering caused by pet overpopulation
  • To eliminate cruelty to animals through education and advocacy
  • To promote responsible pet ownership and respect for all animals through education

Adoption Information

More than 200 animals of all different sizes, breeds, colors, ages and personalities are cared for daily at the Humane Society of El Paso. All animals are placed in clean cages with identification cards stating the breed, age, sex, disposition, shots received, and history of the animal.

All adoptable animals receive their age appropriate vaccinations. Dogs over a year old are heartworm tested. Cats over six weeks are tested for feline leukemia. All pets adopted from the Humane Society will be microchipped and spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter. A pet care package which includes a pet care booklet and coupons from Pets Barn are given to the adopter.
